2nd C : Context


CONTEXT:

To study and understand the existing product or similar products in the market, the product scenario, its users, and pros and cons of the product as experienced by them. This is generally done by studying the available data and through interaction with all the users and stakeholders.

SEATX:

The ability of cartilage to heal decreases as a person gets older. Also, Weight increases pressure on all the joints, especially the knees. So, the problem is quite frequent and the three interviewees experienced it at some level

Insights of User Interviews:

  1. User 1

    1. Age: 70

    2. Fitness Levels: Weak joints and muscles because of ageing

    3. Vehicle: Sedan

    4. Use Case: Lives in an urban locality and needs to travel in a car on a day to day basis over short distances

    5. Problems Faced: Find it difficult to squat frequently to get in and out of the car

    6. Additional Requirements from the solution: The product should be handy and lightweight

  2. User 2

    1. Age: 60

    2. Fitness Levels: Suffers from Osteoarthritis (a chronic disease that leads degeneration of joints)

    3. Vehicle: Hatchback

    4. Use Case: Lives in a rural area and travel 3-4 every year over long distances (~1000km)

    5. Problems Faced: Find it difficult to get in/out of the car and feel uncomfortable throughout the long journey

    6. Additional Requirements from the solution: The product should require less/no volume to be stored and provides extra comfort during travel

  3. User 3

    1. Age: 80

    2. Fitness Levels: Weak joints and muscles because of ageing

    3. Vehicle: SUV

    4. Use Case: Lives in an urban locality and travels once/twice a month

    5. Problems Faced: Find it difficult to climb up the steps of the car 

    6. Additional Requirements from the solution: The product should be reliable and safe, desperately need independence from son or daughter-in-law in getting out of the car
